Asia Ashraf is a distinguished professional with over 18 years of dedicated experience in substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation. Her journey in this field has been marked by significant achievements and global recognition. Asia is an internationally certified addiction professional (ICAP-2) from GCCC, Colombo Plan. She also holds a prestigious Hubert Humphrey Fellowship in substance abuse education, treatment, policy, and prevention from Virginia Commonwealth University, USA. As a Global Drug Demand Reduction expert and trainer for UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime), she plays a vital role in training and building the capacity of addiction professionals globally.

Asia's expertise spans a wide spectrum of clinical interventions, including individual counselling, group therapy, and family counselling. Her compassionate approach to therapy is complemented by her commitment to providing psychoeducation to patients and their families, empowering them with the knowledge and tools necessary for recovery.

With a focus on long-term success, Asia specializes in conducting relapse prevention training, equipping individuals with strategies to navigate challenges and maintain sobriety. Her proficiency in Motivational Interviewing techniques enhances her ability to connect with clients, foster intrinsic motivation, and facilitate meaningful change.

Recognizing the importance of gender-sensitive approaches in addiction treatment, Asia is a trailblazer in treating women with care and respect, addressing their unique needs and challenges within the recovery process.

Asia's impact extends far beyond clinical practice. She is deeply engaged in global advocacy efforts, leveraging her expertise to shape international drug policies and promote inclusive, effective approaches to rehabilitation. As Secretary on the Vienna NGO Committee on Drugs (VNGOC) board, Asia plays a pivotal role in fostering collaboration among NGOs and shaping drug policies on a global scale.

Additionally, as a core team member of the Gender Working Group by the World Federation Against Drugs (WFAD), Sweden, Asia advocates for gender-sensitive approaches in drug policy and rehabilitation, ensuring that the unique experiences of women are acknowledged and addressed.
